The method of the present invention comprises mounting at any place on the whole length of the air supply system (2) in an internal combustion engine (1) one or more closure members (3) capable of closing the flow section (12) of said system. These members are capable of controlling the air displacement capacity from 0 to 100 %. The closure member (3) may for instance be made in the shape of a flap, a shutter, a valve, a half-sphere or a chamber of a resilient material and may be controlled using a mechanical, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuator (11). The closure members (3) may be mounted inside the system air-supply duct before it enters the carburettor or the internal combustion engine or at the air intake of said supply duct. |
