<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a printing speed without shortening a light emitting time by printing printed data in a first field and changing over an image forming position displacing means to other state before printing other data in a second field. SOLUTION: Since a ferroelectric liquid crystal element being a polarizing rotary element 13-2 is changed over from a shift state to a through state after the emission of light to the even-numbered data of a first field, a reversed polarity drive waveform or a step waveform is applied. During the time from the completion of the emission of light to the even-numbered data of the first field to the start of the emission of light to odd-numbered data of a second field, an image forming position displacing means 13 is changed over from the shift state to the through state. Continuously, the light emitting operation to the odd-numbered data of the second field is performed. At this time, the image forming position displacing means 13 is in the through state. An exposed dot is formed into an image on an exposure drum 14 at the position opposed to the light emitting element 11-1 on the drum 14.</p> |
