PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction coupler having a high strength against an external force and having a superior durability. SOLUTION: An outer sleeve 22 of a friction coupler is comprised of a thin- walled cylindrical part 22b and a thick-walled base part 22c. A shaft 20 is fitted to and inserted into the outer sleeve 22. A cylindrical medium storing space 32 is formed between an outer circumferential surface of the shaft 20 and an inner circumferential surface of the outer sleeve 22, and the shaft 20 is fixed to the outer sleeve 22 by welding. Pressure medium is filled in the pressure medium storing space 32 and then the pressure medium is compressed and released for its compressed state. The shaft 20 is formed with a thin-walled resilient deformable section 26 at a part opposing against a welding part 30. A corner R1 of a recessed part 24 forming this thin-walled part 26 is formed with an arcuate shape and a corner R2 of the outer sleeve 22 at an interface between the cylindrical part 22b and the base part 22c is formed with an arcuate shape. |
