FLOATING ISLAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating island capable of purifying eutrophicated polluted water of revers or lakes and marshes naturally by force of a ditch reed without requiring artificial energy such as electricity and becoming a safe propagation place for birds capable of preventing the come-and-go of a dog or a cat becoming a foreign invader for birds. SOLUTION: A floating island is constructed by connecting two or more float blocks each consisting of an upper earth and sand part 2 for vegetating plants such as a ditch reed or the like and a lower float part 3 adjusted in wt. so as to expose a part of the earth and sand part 2 above the surface of water and having a float chamber part and an earth and sand housing plate. It is pref to provide a plurality of water passages communicating with the earth and sand housing plate and float chamber part of each float block. The earth and sand housing plate and the lower plate member of the float chamber part have a reinforced concrete structure and the upper part of the lower plate member and the bottom part of the earth and sand housing plate are fixed by an attaching member and the lower end of the lower plate member is connected by a reinforcing member and the float chamber part is pref. packed with a foamed resin. A wt. part composed of a member having high specific gravity is provided to the lower part of the hermetically closed body surrounded by an outer cylinder and a water supply and discharge pipe is provided to the vicinity of the upper part of the wt. part and an air supply and discharge pipe is provided to the upper part of the outer cylinder to constitute a freely floating and sinking anchor block 19.
