PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate damping force in response to aging change, scattering in friction, correction of the rotational stop position of actuator, and so on to thereby maintain a proper damping force of suspension. SOLUTION: According to the actuator position of a step motor and relative sprung-unsprung speed dY from a height sensor the target damping force CO of suspension is calculated (S105). According to the sprung acceleration ddX from an acceleration sensor and the sprung-undprung relative displacement Y the actual damping force CR is calculated (S108). Based on the level of damping force deviationΔC the properness of damping force of the suspension is determined (S110, 113), and according to the necessity compensation is made (S114). Accordingly the target damping force CO is made in correspondence with the actual damping force CR and thus comfortability in riding is improved, control stability is ensured, and influence from difference between suspensions is eliminated.
