DEXTRAN ESTER COPOLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolymer useful for medical materials markedly reduced in the tendency to damage mucosal cells and excellent in gas permeability by copolymerizing a dextran ester with a specified vinyl compound and a polymerizable carboxylic acid. SOLUTION: This copolymer is obtained by compolymerizing 20-60wt.% dextran ester represented by formula I (wherein Glcp is a glucoyranosy residue; R1 is a 2-4C alkenyl; R2 is a 3-5C alkenyl; R<3> is a 2-6C alkyl; 0<1<=1; 0<=m<=3; 0<=n3; 2<=1+m+n<=3; and x>5) with 10-40wt.% vinyl compound represented by formula II (wherein R<4> to R<6> are each a 1-4C alkyl or phenyl; R<7> and R<8> are each a 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or a group represented by formula III; R<9> is H or methyl; p and r are each 1-5: and q is 0-3), 2-10wt.% polymerizable carboxylic acid represented by formula V (wherein R<11> to R<13> are each methyl or carboxyl), and 0-30wt.% other monomers.
