PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a fiber formed product capable of reducing a malodor by mixing a textile material with a phenol resin-based binder, then forming a bulky mat, subsequently press forming the formed bulky mat into a prescribed shape and further carrying out the heating and vacuum drying treatment. SOLUTION: A curing agent such as hexamethylenetetramine and a lubricant such as calcium carbonate are added to a novolak type phenol resin and the resultant mixture is then pulverized to prepare a phenol resin-based binder. A textile material such as a recovered wool is mixed with 5-40wt.% phenol resin-based binder and the resultant textile material is then formed into a fleece with an opening mixer. Needling or heat treatment, as necessary, is carried out to fuse the binder to the fiber and form a bulky mat. The formed bulky mat is subsequently press formed into a prescribed shape and then heated and vacuum dried under conditions of 30-250 deg.C temperature and <=1.3×10<4> Pa pressure to afford a low malodorous fiber formed product. |
