PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass low in visible ray transmissivity, capable of extremely lowering solar radiation and ultraviolet transmissivity and low in stimulation purity by incorporating the prescribed quantity of plural specific color components in a base material composed of a soda-lime-silica glass. SOLUTION: To 100 pts.wt. (hereafter called 'part') base component composed of the soda-lime-silicate glass consisting preferably and substantially of 65-75wt.% (hereafter called %) SiO2 , 0.1-5% Al2 O3 , 10-18% Na2 O+K2 O, 5-15% CaO and 1-6% MgO, 0.8-1.5 part total iron expressed in terms of Fe2 O3 , 0.1-0.3 part FeO. 0-1.0 part TiO2 , 0.0005-0.015 part Se, 0.02-0.05 part CoO and 0.002-0.05 part Cr2 O3 are incorporated. The quantity of the bivalent iron expressed in terms of Fe2 O3 per the quantity of total iron expressed in terms of Fe2 O3 is controlled to 10-30%. The glass is easily fused and formed by a usual float method.
