<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel metal halide oil forming catalyst capable of being effectively used in an org. polymer such as a waste plastic material or waste rubber material by suppressing a trouble due to chlorine even if a chlorine- containing matter is contained and to produce a low b.p. hydrocarbon oil by utilizing the oil forming catalyst. SOLUTION: An oil forming catalyst is used in the production of low b.p. hydrocarbon oil from an org. polymer such as a plastic material or rubber material and consists of a mesopore carrier of inorg. oxide having a large number of pores having a uniform pore size of 2-10nm and a metal halide bonded to functional groups present on the inner surfaces of at least the pores of the mesopore carrier. A thermal decomposing process thermally decomposing an org. polymer such as a plastic material or a rubber material and a cracking process cracking the steam like product generated by thermal decomposition are performed and the oil forming catalyst is allowed to on either one of the processes as a solid acid catalyst.</p> |
