PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having low air permeability, flexibility and excellent in heat resistance, and capable of being made to a coating-type material in a non-solvent state by reacting a polysulfide bond-containing compound with a bismaleimide compound. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by reacting (A) a polysulfide bond- containing compound [preferably a compound having thiol (-SH) at a chain end of a polysulfide compound, etc., of the formula (n) is 5-6}] with (B) a bismaleimide compound [e.g. N,N'-(4,4'-diphenylmethane)bismaleimide]. Preferably, the objective composition has <=25×10<13> cc.cm/cm<2> .sec.cmHg air permeability coefficient, 1-500MPa Young's modulus, 90-180 deg.C softening point and 150-350% breaking elongation. In a case of using the objective composition as an air permeation-inhibiting layer, its thickness is preferably 0.05-0.5mm. In a case of using the objective composition as an air permeation-inhibiting layer of a pneumatic tire, the composition may be coated on an optional position inside the tire.
