PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dashing feeling which is experienced when engine torque characteristic corresponding to low speed step of an automatic transmission is changed. SOLUTION: To provide an integrated control of an engine and a transmission for an automobile wherein the transmission capable of prescribing a plurality of transmitting ratio is connected to the engine capable of changing power characteristic by changing valve timing in response to the transmitting ratio prescribed in the transmission, so that engine torque characteristic for the case wherein prescribed transmitting ratio predetermined in low throttle opening side is large is prescribed so that the engine torque characteristic in the low throttle opening side is lower than that for the other transmitting ratio.
