PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a computing load at the time of judging an impact by operating a device for protecting an occupant in the case of a first condition and a second condition that a value, which is obtained by a speed changed variable computing means, exceeds the predetermined value. SOLUTION: When an impact is applied to a vehicle 1, deceleration to be applied to the vehicle 1 is detected by an acceleration sensor 2, and an A/D converter 10 performs the A/D conversion of this detection output from the acceleration sensor 2. Wavelet-conversion is performed to this value, which is obtained by the A/D conversion, on the basis of the shift parameter, which shows the time position with the wavelet function 11 enlarged and contracted by a scale parameter, with a basic wavelet function, which locally exists in time, and the converted output is supplied to a CPU 22. The CPU 22 obtains the wavelet function, and in the case of a first condition that the wavelet function exceeds the predetermined value or in the case of a second condition that a speed changed variable exceeds the predetermined value, an air bag device 4 is operated. |
