PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To costlesly and responsively detect abnormal conditions, by measuring the rotary speed of a wire drum equivalent to the sliding speed of a door and rotary quantity of the wire drum by an optical sensor and detecting the motor load and monitoring the sliding motion of the door. SOLUTION: A sliding door fitted to a car body is provided with a latch unit brought to a fully latched state through a half-latched state by fitting to a striker fixed to the car body and a motor 8 sliding the slide door by rotating a wire drum connected to the sliding door through a wire. An optical sensor 84 detecting the rotary speed and the rotary quantity of the wire drum and an ammeter 89 detecting the motor 8 load are connected to the controller 87 controlling the revolution number of motor. In the part where the slide resistance varies, like the initial and last sliding time, the abnormal control by use of the motor load is done and in the constant slide resistance part, the abnormal control is executed by the optical sensor 84.
