PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grind crystalline glass so as to provide a smooth surface irrespective of a crystal size by using grinding liquid containing grinding abrasive grains and organic solvent as a dispersion medium. SOLUTION: Crystalline glass is precisely ground by using grinding liquid containing grinding abrasive grains and organic solvent as a dispersion medium. This organic solvent is water-soluble and its boiling point is 60 deg.C or higher. Crystalline glass of a dispersion medium containing water of 40wt.% or lower is crystalline glass used for magnetic disk substrate, little limits is placed by the composition of a glass composition or crystallization conditions, a smooth surface is obtained even from crystalline glass having a large crystal size and a substrate for dealing with the high recording density of a magnetic disk is obtained. |
