PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain monodisperse polymer finely divided particles good in redispersibility by polymerizing, in an alcoholic solvent having a specified polymer dissolved therein, vinyl monomers soluble in that solvent to produce a polymer insoluble in that solvent. SOLUTION: In an alcoholic solvent, a monomer A denoted by the formula wherein Q denotes a bivalent linking group; R<1> denotes H or a methyl group; R<2> and R<3> each denote H or an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group having 18 or less carbon atoms; and R<4> denotes H, an amino group, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group having 18 or less carbon atoms or -C(NH2 )=NH is polymerized to obtain a polymer dissolved in the alcoholic solvent. One or more monomers that are soluble in that solvent but whose polymer is insoluble or hardly soluble in that solvent are polymerized in that solvent to obtain monodisperse polymer finely divided particles having an average particle diameter of 0.05 to 20μm.
