540,131. Toothed wheels and pinions. AKT -GES BROWN; BOVERI, & CIE. April 1, 1940; No. 5849. Convention date, April 1, 1939 [Class 80 (i)] In toothed wheel gearing in which at least the flanks of the teeth of one of the co-acting wheels consists of material the resistivity of which differs from that of the material of the flanks of the other wheel, the profiles of the teeth are displaced towards that wheel of which the flanks are made of the harder material, the teeth with the harder material having the longer dedenda and those with the softer material the longer addenda, so that the harder material works mainly as dedendum and the softer material as addendum. The invention is based on the fact that of the two ooacting wheels, that part which works as the dedendum is much more subjected to wear and pitting than that part which works as the addendum. |
