The connector (1) has rigid plates or rods (4) extending longitudinally at either side of the vertebrae and at least one flexible artificial ligament. The plates re attached to at least one side of the spine by a pedicular screw. A connecting bar extends transversely to connect the plates or rods. A flexible ligament formed of strips of woven textile (7,9) connect the bar to the pedicular screw so that the position of the plates can be adjusted before fixing of the assembly.
