The invention discloses any DNA sequence containing, as coding region, all or part of the nucleotide sequence coding for an mRNA coding for a laccase, or all or part of the complementary nucleotide sequence of the latter and coding for an antisense mRNA capable of being hybridized with the above mentioned mRNA. The invention also discloses the use of the above mentioned sequences for implementing methods of controlling lignin biosynthesis in plants.
