PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic block having excellent bending strength and water permeability by defining a containing amount of boron oxide in the ceramic block. SOLUTION: This ceramic block is composed of an aggregate and a sintering binder, and a containing amount of boron oxide is 0.01-15wt.% of whole of the ceramic block. Preferably, B2 O3 is used as the boron oxide. As a condition for defining melting points of the aggregate and the sintering binder, the block preferably contains 1-12wt.% of (Na2 o+K2 O) and 0.1-15wt.% of (Ca+MgO). Preferably, the ceramic block has a double-layered structure, and contains boron oxide in the base layer part in an amount of 0.1-10wt.% of whole of the base layer part. Preferably, a content of SiO2 in the block is 45-80wt.%. As the aggregate, a ceramic cerven, a crushed stone of a rock (especially an igneous rock type), iron slag, or incinerated slag, etc., is preferably used. |
