Isolongifolanol derivatives, their production and their use

The described compounds of the general formula A, in which the wavy lines mean alpha and beta configuration and R1 and R2 mean hydrogen, methyl or ethyl groups <IMAGE> A are new and useful as odorants or components or mixtures of odorants or perfume oils. Their production in a method known per se, involves oxidation of isolongifolene obtained from longifolene to isolongifolane, which is then equilibrated with base extraction and/or reduced to isolongifolan-3-ol and this is then reacted with a symmetric acetal of the formula R2-OCHR1-O-R2, in which R1 is hydrogen or methyl and R2 is methyl, ethyl or propyl.
