PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate excellent image data even when a rate to increase the number of dots is not an integer number of multiple. SOLUTION: A binary image with a resolution of 400dpi is stored sequentially in buffer memories A-D in a buffer memory group 2 in the unit of lines. Then a selector 2 selects two consecutive buffer memories storing the image, and a control section 7 reads the image from the two selected buffer memories thrice in total. The read image data by two lines are latched by a flip-flop 4 as a 2×2 picture element block, its output is fed to an arithmetic section 5 and fed to a selector 6. The arithmetic section 5 conducts 5 arithmetic operations and provides an output of the result to the selector 6. In total 9, that is, the picture element data in the 3×3 picture element block are outputted to the selector 6. Then the selector 6 selects either of the 9 data synchronously with a CLK 19 and a SYNC 20 and outputs the data to allow a printer whose resolution is 600dpi to print out the data. |
