PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new chalcone synthase gene having a specific base sequence, capable of coding chalcone synthase acting in a anthocyanin synthesis and metabolism system, providing a plant having a high productivity of the anthocyanin, imparting a different color to an existing plant and originated from a strawberry cell. SOLUTION: This chalcone synthase gene is a new one having a base sequence of the formula and useful for creation, etc., of a cultured cell of a plant having a high productivity of an anthocyanin and a transformed plant having a different color from an existing plant by transducing the gene into a plant cell. The gene is obtained by culturing a strawberry cultured cell, which is multiplied in a culture liquid containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, benzyladenine and a sucrose, in the same culture liquid by irradiating a strong light under about 8000lx light condition, collecting the strawberry culture cell beginning the production of the anthocyanin, extracting an RNA from the cultured cell by a conventional method, preparing a DNA library by using the extracted RNA and screening the resultant DNA by using a chalcone synthase gene of a carrot cell as a probe to obtain the objective gene. |
