PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the execution of accurate positioning control even though a head is positioned anywhere on a recording medium by forming the burst data structure with the use of burst signals of each group. SOLUTION: A plurality of servo regions are radially arranged from a center of the recording medium. On these servo regions, the burst signals A, B respectively having the same width as the track pitch while making the center positions of each track to their borders are alternately recorded, and also the burst signals C, D having the same width as the track pitch while making each track border to their borders are alternately recorded. Further, the burst signals E, F having a half width of the track pitch while making the positions±1/4 track shifted from the center positions of each track to the borders are alternately recorded. Then, the head is always maintained in either one of the ranges, wherein the difference of output levels of the signals A and B against the head position becomes linear, the difference of output levels of the signals C and D becomes linear, or the difference of output levels of signals E and F becomes linear.
