摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image arithmetic unit which can operate a plurality of pixels by a single memory access to increase its calculation speed. SOLUTION: When the arithmetic result of a P×Q size is used as the new pixel data on an arithmetic point, the image data on lines of the latter half equivalent to P lines obtained by the updating of the line direction are stored in a line register. Then these stored image data are combined with an image data group of a (P×Q) size obtained by the updating of the next line direction, and two or more operations of P×Q sizes are carried out in parallel to each other. The data stored in an image memory 110 are transferred to a plurality of line division memories 150 which store the data in sequence and in every line by a data transfer means. The output of the memories 150 and the data stored in a line memory having capacity equal to at least two lines are inputted to a plurality of 3×3 arithmetic units via a 3-step shift register and calculated there. Then these calculated output and data are returned to the memories 150 and the contents of these memories are rewritten into the calculated value. Then the value of the memories 150 are returned to the memory 110 by the data transfer means. The shift and calculation of data are simultaneously carried out by means of a bus switching circuit.
