PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the scale of a grid to equal space scale, logarithmic scale or the like to perform a display under a proper grid by comparing the difference between maximum value and minimum value in a logarithmically converted waveform data with prescribed judgment valuesα,β. SOLUTION: In order to determine the scale value of a grid G, judgment valuesα,βare first set. The judgment values are preferably set to 1.0, 3.0, respectively. A CPU limits maximum value MAX and minimum value MIN in a waveform data to values larger than 0 according to the instruction from an operation part, and then logarithmically converts them to determine the differenceΔbetween log(MAX) and log(MIN). In case of the differenceΔ< the judgment valueα), the grid G is set to equal space scale, and in case of the differenceΔ> the judgment valueα, the grid is displayed with a geometrically progressive or logarithmic grid scale value. In case of the judgment valueα< the differenceΔ< the judgment valueβ, the grid scale value is set to a prescribed geometrically progressive value, and in case of the differenceΔ>β, it is logarithmically displayed on a display 5.
