BIODEGRADABLE WET NONWOVEN FABRIC AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a biodegradable wet nonwoven fabric suitable for a material for household and sanitary goods, by forming a sheet of a biodegradable aliphatic polyester-based sheath-core conjugate short fiber or the short fiber mixed with a biodegradable cellulosic short fiber and heat-treating the sheet. SOLUTION: A biodegradable sheath-core type polyester-based short fiber obtained by arranging a polybutylene succinate as a core component and a butylene succinate/ethylene succinate copolymer having a melting point lower than that of the core component as a sheath component is mixed with a cellulosic fiber such as a wood pulp and made into a sheet, dehydrated and heat-treated to give the objective biodegradable wet nonwoven fabric having a shape retention of the nonwoven web raised by thermal fusion of the conjugate fiber.
