PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber compsn. with high grip performance by compounding a diene rubber with at least one copolymer selected from among anα- orβ-pinene-arom. vinyl copolymer, anα- orβ-pinene-dipentene-arom. vinyl copolymer, and hydrogenation products of these copolymers. SOLUTION: 97-70 pts.wt. diene rubber selected from among a natural rubber, a styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber, a butadiene rubber, an isoprene rubber, etc., is blended with 3-30 pts.wt. at least one copolymer selected from among anα- orβ-pinene-arom. vinyl (e.g. styrene) copolymer, anα- orβ-pinene- dipentene-arom. vinyl copolymer, and hydrogenation products of these copolymers to give 100 pts.wt. rubber blend, which is then compounded with specified amts. of a softener (e.g. an aroma oil), a reinforcement (e.g. a carbon black), a vulcanizing agent, a vulcanization accelerator, and vulcanization aids, such as ZnO and stearic acid, and is kneaded, thus giving a tire tread rubber compsn.
