PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foam having a low apparent density, a high closed cell content, and a wide cross section. SOLUTION: This foam is produced by melt mixing a modified polypropylene resin compsn. with a blowing agent and subjecting the resultant mixture to extrusion foaming. The resin compsn. is prepd. by melt mixing a polypropylene resin, an arom. vinyl monomer, and a free-radical polymn. initiator at a temp. capable of melting the resin and decomposing the initiator and has a melt viscosity of 1×10<3> Pa.sec or higher at 180 deg.C under a shear rate of 122sec<-1> .
