PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a setting operation for a binding margin by detecting the position and the size of a binding margin, for a print medium, which is set on either of its front or rear face, and changing a printing area which is set on the other face in accordance with the size of the binding margin to set the binding margin areas on the front and the rear face of the print medium at the identical position and to the identical size. SOLUTION: An image forming part 41 performs an image forming process and at the same time, starts a binding margin detecting part 42 to interpret whether a print image to be formed is used on the front or the rear face of a print medium. If the print image is used on the front face, a position for and the size of a binding margin are set by the host 7 side or based on a marging area on the left end side using the side of a row of black dots which appears for the first time from the left end of the paper as indicator and based on a margin area on the right end side using a distance from the row of black dots which appear last upto the the right end of the paper as the other indicator. Further, after detecting the binding margin on the front face, a controller 5 starts a printing area changing part 43 to shift a printing area on the rear face by the detected size of the binding margin. Finally, a print output part 44 and a paper transport mechanism 6 print an image, based on print data, on both front and rear faces of the paper. |
