LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING HOLOGRAM COLOR FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent colors from being mixed on a displayed picture and the displayed picture from being blurred by restraining the diffusion of each component light passing through the aperture part of a black matrix. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is composed of a liquid crystal display element 20 and a hologram color filter 5 which is composed of the array of light condensing holograms 5' provided on the incident side of illuminating light 3 and where the respective light condensing holograms 5' spectrally split white light 3 made incident at a specified angle to the normal of the hologram recording surface by dispersing the light 3 in terms of wavelength in a direction nearly along the hologram recording surface. Then, a lens part 30 is formed on a glass substrate 22 on the observation side of the black matrix 23 in contact with the black matrix 23 as a part for restraining spread by refracting the light passing through the aperture part of the black matrix 23. The lens part 30 is formed corresponding to the aperture parts of three elements of red, green and blue constituting one picture element of display.
