PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress vibration, to satisfactorily and stably read an image and also to reduce load on the driving means for a slider for loading optical parts by controlling the operations of 1st and 2nd slider driving means by a control means so that a timing of stopping 1st and 2nd sliders may be shifted in the case of returning the 1st and 2nd sliders to respective initial positions. SOLUTION: The 1st slider SL1 and the 2nd slider SL2 which are driven parallel to an original platen 5 are arranged under the original platen 5, and the image reader is provided with respective driving circuits 14 and 24 for the 1st and 2nd sliders SL1 and SL2 and a control part 8 for controlling respective driving circuits 14 and 24. The time of stopping the 1st slider SL1 is shifted from the time of stopping the 2nd slider SL2 by a timeΔTe. Thus, the mutual increase of the vibration generated when each slider is stopped is suppressed. Then, in the case of continuously reading the images, the vibration remaining at 2nd and subsequent image reading operations is suppressed. |
