摘要 The present invention relates to a mechanism which allows cyclists to exert a higher "virtual work" over their bicycle pedals so as to achieve more power, thus obtaining more acceleration, more speed and a better yield than that exerted by currently available rotatable pedal wheels. The present invention modifies the traditional pedal circular trajectory, limiting the movement thereof to an arch-like movement which is described upon oscillation of said pedal relative to a horizontal plane, thereby allowing the maximum available torque to be reached. Due to the novel trajectory herein disclosed it is also possible to increase the connecting rod length, the lever arm thereby being increased, thus increasing the torque and power even more. This novel trajectory modifies the rotatory travel of both the foot and leg into a scaling-type travel, saving energy and wear to cyclist. To achieve the aforementioned, this mechanism comprises a ratchet wheel disposed in the connecting rod assembled with the axis of the chain-wheel plate.
