A silhouette-type bird decoy for simulating the appearance of a real game bird. The decoy having a decoy body. The decoy body approximating the contour of the prey for which it is intended The decoy body having an external surface coated with strips of material selected from the group consisting of cork, velour and velvet. The strips being configured so as to approximate the contour of the feathers of the bird for which it is intended. In one embodiment of the invention, the decoy has a flat decoy body and a flat decoy head both defining a lower abutting surface and an upper simulating surface. The body and the head being pivotally connected together by an anchoring peg extending through corresponding apertures in the body and the head and inserted into the ground. In yet another embodiment of the invention, the decoy has a main body section, a head and neck section and a pair of wing sections all simulating the silhouette of corresponding sections of a real game bird. A fixing flap extends integrally from each wing section inner peripheral edge. The fixing flap is connected to the wing section by a fold line. Each one of the fixing flaps has a flap notch formed therein adjacent the fold line. The head and neck section is rotatably fixed to the main body adjacent a front end thereof. The fixing flaps are fixed on each side of the main body section with a body notch substantially in register with the fixing flap notches.
