<p>The invention concerns a positioning drive for a tool head designed for use in machine tools. The tool head has a main body (12), a tool shaft (16) which extends out longitudinally beyond the main body (12) and which can be coupled to a rotating machine spindle (14), plus a thrust element (18) which can be moved relative to the main body (12) to adjust the position of at least one cutting tool or cutting-tool carrier. Also located in the main body is an electric motor (24) which can be coupled to the thrust element (18), plus a power-supply unit (26) for the motor. In to ensure a compact design with a high-performance motor, a hollow shaft (50) is mounted in the main body (12) so that it can rotate about an axis concentric with the axis of motion (52) of the thrust element (18), the hollow shaft (50) having an internal thread which engages in an external thread (42) around the thrust element (18), plus a toothed ring (62), concentric with the external thread (42) and designed to engage in at least one gearwheel (70) mounted on the drive shaft (68) of the motor.</p> |
