PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send a transmission signal without deteriorating a duty factor by detecting a zero cross level with high precision even when the number of complicated peak detection circuits is decreased in the optical transmitter. SOLUTION: In the case of transmitting a dummy pulse signal, a duty control signal 20a generated in response to a quantity of duty deterioration of a dummy pulse string monitored by a monitor photo diode 12 is fed back to a duty adjustment circuit 40. In the case of sending a data signal 13b, the duty control signal 20a at that point of time is stored to execute duty adjustment to prevent deterioration in the duty factor.
