摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable measuring of the thickness of scale on the internal surface of a pipe at a lower cost in a short time by a method wherein a vertical probe with a V-shaped block mounted thereon is brought vertically into contact with a pipe to transmit an ultrasonic wave and an echo reflected on the boundary of the inner circumference of the pipe and a scale is separated from the echo reflected on the inner circumference of the scale to receive. SOLUTION: A vertical probe 1 where a V-shaped block 2 is mounted to match the outline of a pipe 3 to be measured is brought vertically into contact with the pipe 3. A transmission echo 5 generated from an ultrasonic wave generator 9 is transmitted into the pipe 3 by the vertical probe 1 and a boundary echo 6 reflected on the boundary of the inner circumference of the pipe 3 and a scale 4 adhering to the inner circumference of the pipe and a bottom surface echo 7 reflected on the inner circumference of the scale 4 are separated to be received by the vertical probe 1. The individual echoes 6 and 7 are analyzed by a frequency analyzer 10 to determine the heights of the respective echoes 6 and 7. Thus, the thickness of the scale 4 is determined by an arithmetic device 11 from sound speeds in the steel and the scale.
