PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a comparator which can increase its operating speed and also can reduce its power consumption. SOLUTION: A 1st switch circuit group including switch circuits 16, 17, 20, 21, 24 and 25 is turned on by a 1st clock signalϕ1. Then a difference voltage signal is inputted to a differential amplifier 28 via the capacity elements 14 and 15. At the same time, both differential amplifiers 28 and 29 are set at each prescribed voltage level. A 2nd switch circuit group of switch circuits 18, 19, 22, 23, 26 and 27 is turned on by a 2nd clock signalϕ2 to secure connection among both amplifiers 28 and 29 and a comparator 30 respectively.
