PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch having a sufficient high on/off ratio and having a light output level adjustment function by respectively connecting optical switch elements to respective output ports as an optical gate switch. SOLUTION: The optical gate switches 20, 30 are connected respectively to the output ports 13-1, 13-2 of a 1×2 optical switch element 10 constituted of a Y branch waveguide 11 and heater resistors 12-1, 12-2. The optical gate switch 20 is constituted of similarly to the 1×2 optical switch element 10, and is provided with the Y branch waveguide 21, the heater resistors 22-1, 22-2 and the output ports 23-2, 23-2. The optical gate switch 30 is similarly provided with the Y branch waveguide 31, the heater resistors 32-1, 32-2 and the output ports 33-1, 33-2 also. Then, one side output ports 23-1, 33-1 among respective two output ports of the optical gate switches 20, 30 are made the output ports of this optical switch, and the other output ports 23-2, 33-2 are made a dummy port.
