PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly deal with the inserted cards in each type of them by deciding that a composite card is inserted based on the decision results obtained from the 1st and 2nd read means and when both read means perform the normal reading operations. SOLUTION: At a CPU part 46 which totally controls a card reader, a card type judging part 54 judges whether the magnetic data or the capacitive data are contained in a card based on the read propriety information on a magnetic data read part 51 and a capacitive data read part 52. Based on this discriminated result, the type of the inserted card is judged. When the part 54 discriminates that both magnetic data and capacitive data are included in the magnetic card, the insertion of a composite card that includes both magnetic and capacitive data is judged. Then a card data processing part 55 processes the data on the composite card. |
