PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting field winding assembly for electric machines, such as rotary generators and linear motors. SOLUTION: A field winding assembly 16 contains at least two magnetic pole assemblies (20), and each of the magnetic pole assemblies consists of a solid core 22; a superconducting coil assembly 24 that encircles the entire solid core; and a first cooling canal 36. The superconducting coil assembly has an epoxy-impregnated superconducting coil 28 that has an axial line 26 positioned as a whole perpendicularly to the direction 18 of the motion of the magnetic pole assembly and vertically extending on a whole; and a short axis 30 placed on a whole in parallel with the direction of the motion, and that is in a race track shape on a whole. The first cooling tube holds gaseous cryogenic agent, such as gaseous helium, and is placed so that it will be in thermal contact with the superconducting coils. |
