The waste bin wheel (9) has a sleeve (23) which is fixed rigidly to the wheel hub (24) and has a guide surface (26) on its free end to engage with a lug (27) on the bin. The sleeve is designed to receive one end of the wheel axle (10), which is locked in place by a spring-loaded pin (35) located in a radial duct in the wheel hub and engaging with a recess in the axle. The sleeve and wheel hub are made in one piece, and the sleeve has at least three inner lengthwise ribs to act as guide surfaces for the axle. The spring-loaded pin fastening the wheel to the end of the axle can be accessed from the outside to permit easy removal or replacement of a wheel.
