PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the condition of a photoreceptor satisfactory and to form an image of high quality by cleaning the photoreceptor, such as a photoreceptive drum, steadily, in an image forming device of an electrophotographic system, such as a laser beam printer. SOLUTION: This image forming device develops an electrostatic latent image with toner electrified to a specific polarity under an operating state and forms an image onto the photoreceptive drum 20. The device is equipped with a developing roller 56 which recovers toner smoothed onto the photoreceptive drum 20 under a nonoperating state, a transfer roller 60 which transfers the image to paper, a cleaning roller 42 which, in an attraction mode, attracts the residual toner 53 on the photoreceptive drum 20 after transfer by means of a potential difference between the photoreceptive drum 20 and itself and which, in a repellence mode, repels the attracted toner 53 onto the photoreceptive drum 20 by means of a potential difference between the drum 20 and itself, and a discharge lamp which discharges the photoreceptive drum 20 between the transfer roller 60 and cleaning roller 42. |
