The tool chuck (11) has a cylindrical tool holder (12) receiving the shaft of an interchangeable impact tool or drill bit, driven by the electric motor of the hammer drill, for transmitting a corresponding torque to the tool, with a reciprocating impact device (19) enclosed by the rear end of the tool holder. The front end of the tool holder has a pair of axially interfitting rotary sockets (21,28), the front socket (21) having a hexagonal cross-section, with a cooperating axial locking device (23,24,25) for the inserted tool.
