The recharging parking bay (5) has a pair of contact posts (1) used for supplying the charging current to the rechargeable battery of the parked electric automobile (4) and for preventing unauthorised use of the automobile. The contact posts are retracted in the ground at the parking bay position and are deployed upon the automobile being parked, with large surface contact plates (2,3) at their top ends brought into contact with the automobile for providing the charging current after an authorisation check.
