<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a traveling load upon a magnetic tape by blowing air out of an air blow-off outlet formed in an outer circumferential surface of an upper fixed drum and forming an air film between the outer circumferential surface of the upper fixed drum and the magnetic tape. SOLUTION: In the rotary head drum 2 of a center rotary drum system, an air blow-off groove 19 is diagonally formed on the outer circumferential surface 12a of the upper fixed drum 12 in almost the whole area of a sliding part of the magnetic tape 14 along an upper edge 14a of the magnetic tape 14. Then, the tips of a plurality of air blow-out holes 20 are opened in a plurality of spots in the air blow-off groove 19 to form the air blow-off outlet 21. By this air blow-off means, compressed air is blown out through the air blow-off groove 19 from the plurality of air blow-out holes 20 of the air blow-off outlet 21 to form the air film 28. Consequently, satisfactory spacing between a rotary magnetic head 7 and the magnetic tape 14 can stably be maintained.</p> |
