The device is designed for controlling unwanted vegetation on road surfaces, especially on railway tracks. It has improved design, higher efficiency and is ecologically compatible with the environment. It consists of a railtrack vehicle (1) on which a steam generator (2) is mounted at the steam outlet of which two series of steam nozzles (4', 4") are connected by flexible pipelines inclined in the direction of travel, forming at least one spraying beam (5'), lateral to the direction of travel (F), getting along the width of the track (road). The beam (5') is mounted under the housing of the transport vehicle (1) by means of a carrier, adjustable in height, and supporting parts (7), tilted in height and aside having sections of the spraying beam (5') around axis (B) in the direction of travel (F). The carrier and the side supporting parts (7) are in the form of a cover which is open on the lower part, having a bottom and side walls. The spraying beam (5') is mounted on the bottom of the cover having facility for adjustment in the direction of travel and for tilting towards of an inclining axis (B) getting across the direction of travel. The steam generator (2) consists of a steam boiler (9) which is charged by means of a pump (10) from a water tank (11). Pump (10) is electrically supplied from a diesel-current unit (12) Heating of the steam boiler (9) is effected by a gas torch (13) connected to gas cylinders (14). Axle (B) is mounted on the transport vehicle (1) together with a second axle (C) by means of which the adjustment in height and direction lateral to the movement of travel is achieved by intermediate switching of servocylinders (8).
