摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly cool a large superconducting coil or the like by filling a closed container with a refrigerant, vertically providing communicating means through which the end parts of passages communicate on both ends of a partition member between the forming walls of the closed container and thermally connecting one of the forming walls to a member to be cooled. SOLUTION: A cooling unit 2 is thermally connected to the side surface of of a member 1 to be cooled. A pair of horizontally opposed forming walls 4 and 5 forming the closed container 3 of the cooling unit 2 are made of a thermally conductive material. The remaining forming walls is made of a metal material low in thermal conductivity or a ceramic material having an electrical insulating characteristic. A partition member 8 is arranged between the forming walls 4 and 5 in the closed container 3 so that passages 6 and 7 respectively extending in the direction of gravity are formed between the partition member 8 and the forming wall 4, and, the partition member 8 and the forming wall 5. On the upper and lower end parts of the partition member 8, holes or cut-out parts 9 and 10 as communicating means through which the upper ends and the lower ends of the passages 6 and 7, respectively communicate are formed.
