PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a distance-measuring apparatus whose resolution is high by using a clock signal generation part whose clock frequency is low and a counter whose operating frequency is low. SOLUTION: A plurality of counters C1 to C10 start a counting operation simultaneously by a start signal which is output in synchronization with the light-emitting timing of pulsed light from a light-emitting device. On the other hand, the respective counters C1 to C10 stop the counting operation when a stop signal is input at a timing which is delayed sequentially byϕ(=T/10, where T represents the cycle of a clock signal) from a light-receiving timing at a photodetector 13. A mean computing part 25 finds the mean value of counted values by the respective counters C1 to C10, the counted values are multiplied by cT/2 [where (c) represents the speed of light], and a distance up to an object 9 is found.
