<p>The electrically operated lock for a vehicle includes a lock striking plate (1) and a mechanical linkage between the plate and the shaft of an electric motor. When the vehicle boot is closed, this forces the withdrawal of the striking plate. The mechanical connection comprises a threaded shaft (2) which cannot be rotated, attached to the striking plate. A nut (3) is engaged with the thread, and this is driven in rotation by the motor. This causes axial movement of the threaded shaft and lock striking plate together, thus releasing the lock. The axial movement is opposed by a spring, returning the lock to the closed position.</p> |
