The gearing is actuated by the wheel (10) of the vehicle and drives the brake disc or drum at a higher speed than the wheel. The brake unit has an electromechanical actuating device (28) equipped with an electric motor. The brake unit is located completely, or at least partially, in an internal cavity in the wheel rim (16).
